About Me – My Journey into Nature-Based Therapy

With 30 years of experience as a mental health nurse, clinician, and clinical leader, I bring both knowledge and compassion to my work. I'm accredited in CBT, DBT, and ACT therapies, providing evidence-based support to help individuals manage challenges with resilience and self-awareness.

My journey into Therapeutic Horticulture and Nature-Based Therapy began with my own healing. After experiencing personal trauma, I turned to gardening, mindfulness, and nature for recovery and resilience. This experience sparked a passion within me to help others discover the healing power of nature, just as I had.

Since 2020, I’ve been working in Disaster Recovery, supporting communities affected by the Black Summer fires. I’ve helped individuals navigate trauma-induced mental illness, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions. Combining traditional therapies with the well-researched benefits of nature, I’ve witnessed people not only recover but flourish, finding newfound strength, personal understanding, and a deeper connection with nature.

Who I work with

I work with individuals and families of all ages, whether it’s a 5-year-old, an adult, or a group. I’m here to help you build self-awareness, manage stress, and navigate life’s transitions with courage and resilience. Life’s challenges might arise from the loss of a loved one, illness, job changes, or shifts between life stages, and I’m here to guide you through those moments.

  • Creative workshops

  • Therapeutic garden design

  • Corporate/employee nature walks

I also offer online services and tailor trauma-informed programs to meet your unique needs.

My Inspiration & Partnerships

I’m grateful to collaborate with the founders of NatureFix, whose groundbreaking research on the health benefits of nature deeply inspires my practice. As an accredited NatureFix therapist, I’m also working towards completing a Diploma in Ecotherapy. I’m proud to be an associate member of the Therapeutic Horticulture Society.

In February 2024, my disaster recovery team and I hosted Sue Stuart-Smith, author of The Well-Gardened Mind, during her Australian tour. Sue was so impressed by our work with nature-based therapy that she featured it in her talks and newsletters.

A little more about me

When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me in the garden, soaking in the arts, or spending cherished moments with my four wonderful grown children.

My mission is to use my gifts - imagination, love, deep listening, compassion, and hope to create experiences of healing, beauty, and renewal. I’m passionate about helping others connect with nature, find peace within, and build the resilience to thrive.
